靴球拍尾蜂鸟是外形最奇特、最壮观的蜂鸟之一，雄性具有延长的外侧尾羽，尾端为扩大的球拍状，展示飞行时在身后拖曳，双腿还饰有白色蓬松羽毛“靴子“。分布于哥伦比亚、厄瓜多尔和委内瑞拉安第斯山脉的潮湿森林中，海拔300至2100米。雄性向雌性表演俯冲求偶飞行，球拍旋转并反射光线。它是新热带区被拍摄最多的蜂鸟之一。
