Common Figwort Weevil

<em>Cionus scrophulariae</em> is a small weevil belonging to the family Curculionidae within the order Coleoptera. Commonly known as the common figwort weevil, this species has a close ecological association with plants in the genus Scrophularia, particularly common figwort, upon which both larvae and adults typically feed. The species is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, indicating no significant population decline. <em>Cionus scrophulariae</em> is distributed across Europe and has established populations in North America, including Canada and the United States, likely through unintentional introduction. Adults are small, mottled gray-brown beetles with a characteristic elongated snout typical of the weevil family. Larvae are typically found on the leaves and stems of host plants, feeding externally and often leaving distinctive feeding scars.
