Detailed Explanation
Families are often the most recognizable grouping for naturalists — Felidae (cats), Canidae (dogs), Accipitridae (hawks and eagles). Family names in animals end in -idae; in plants, -aceae. The size of families varies enormously: Orchidaceae contains over 28,000 species, while some families have just one or two.
