세계에서 가장 널리 퍼진 침입 앵무새 중 하나인 인도홍목도리앵무는 사하라 이남 아프리카와 남아시아가 원산지이지만, 새장에서 탈출한 개체로부터 유럽, 북아메리카, 일본, 오스트레일리아 등 35개국 이상에 대규모 야생 개체군을 형성했다. 수컷은 분홍색과 검정색의 독특한 목 띠를 갖는다. 적응력이 뛰어나고 번식력이 높아 런던, 암스테르담, 브뤼셀 같은 도시에서 도시 개체군이 급증했으며, 거대한 무리를 지어 내려앉아 토종 수동성 둥지 새들과 경쟁한다.
Habitat & Distribution
Inhabits deserts and xeric shrublands within the Afrotropic biogeographic realm. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Widely distributed across Africa (8 countries), Asia (21 countries), Europe (18 countries), North America (4 countries), and South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela).
