황금깃털앵무는 콜롬비아에서 볼리비아에 이르는 안데스 고산 운무림에 서식하는 중형 앵무로, 눈 주위에 두드러진 밝은 노란색 눈테와 깃털 무늬, 그리고 녹색과 금색 깃털을 지닌다. 해발 1,700~3,400m의 산지 숲에서 씨앗, 열매, 특히 조릿대 Chusquea의 열매를 먹으며 생활한다. 안데스 운무림의 심각한 삼림 벌채와 조류 밀거래로 인해 위기(EN)로 지정되었다.
