About

A medium-sized parrot of high-altitude Andean cloud forests from Colombia to Bolivia, golden-plumed parakeets have striking bright yellow eye-ring and plume markings above and around the eye, with green and gold plumage. They inhabit montane forest at 1,700–3,400 meters, foraging on seeds, berries, and particularly the fruits of Chusquea bamboo. Listed as Endangered due to severe deforestation of Andean cloud forest and the cage bird trade.
