コガネウモウインコは、コロンビアからボリビアにかけての高山帯アンデス雲霧林に生息する中型のオウムで、目の周りに目立つ明るい黄色の目環と羽毛模様、そして緑と金色の羽毛を持つ。標高1,700〜3,400mの山地林に生息し、種子、果実、特にChusquea竹の果実を食べる。アンデス雲霧林の深刻な森林破壊と鳥類密売により、絶滅危惧（EN）に指定されている。
