El mielero patirrojo (Cyanerpes cyaneus) es un pequeno tangárido de colores llamativos. Los machos exhiben un vivo plumaje azul real con patas de color rojo brillante -- el rasgo diagnostico que da nombre a la especie -- y un pico largo, curvo y de punta amarilla. Se distribuye por el bosque tropical y subtropical desde Mexico hasta Bolivia y Brasil, incluida Trinidad.
