El tangara pechicanelo (Pipraeidea melanonota) es un tánger de tamaño mediano con partes inferiores de color ante cálido y partes superiores de contraste azul grisáceo y negro. Habita bordes de bosques húmedos, matorrales secundarios y setos de jardines en los Andes desde Colombia hasta Argentina, entre 1.000 y 2.600 metros de altitud. Se encuentra en parejas o grupos pequeños forrajeando frutos en el estrato medio, frecuentemente asociado a bandadas mixtas. Clasificado como Preocupación Menor con poblaciones andinas estables.
