Kocuria carniphila is a Gram-positive coccus isolated from meat (as suggested by its species name, carniphila meaning meat-loving), belonging to the family Micrococcaceae. It is an aerobic, non-motile bacterium found in food environments and potentially on animal skin and associated surfaces. Some Kocuria species have been identified as opportunistic pathogens in immunocompromised individuals.
