Athelidium aurantiacum is an orange-tinged, resupinate basidiomycete fungus forming thin, waxy crusts on decaying wood. It inhabits moist temperate forests, growing on the underside of fallen logs and branches. This saprotrophic fungus breaks down dead woody material through enzymatic degradation of cellulose and lignin.

Typically found in forest floors, decomposing wood, and soil ecosystems.
