About

Um beija-flor de tamanho médio-grande nomeado pelas suas coberteiras supracaudais brancas, os plumeleteers-de-barriga-branca têm plumagem verde brilhante com um bico rosa-avermelhado vistoso e são encontrados em florestas úmidas de planície e encostas desde o Panamá pelo norte da América do Sul até a Venezuela e Trinidad. Habitam bordas de floresta e clareiras em altitudes de até 1.400 metros. Os machos são defensores agressivos de território. Importantes polinizadores de Heliconias de flores grandes e outras plantas tropicais do sub-bosque em toda a sua área de ocorrência.
