Sulfolobus yangmingensis e um arqueon hipertermofilo aerobio da familia Sulfolobaceae, isolado de fontes termais acidas no Parque Nacional Yangmingshan de Taiwan. Prospera a altas temperaturas (65-90 graus C) e pH baixo (2-5), oxidando enxofre e compostos organicos para obter energia. Como outras especies de Sulfolobus, tem sido estudado por sua notavel adaptacao ao calor extremo e acidez.

Habitat & Distribution

Native to Asia, inhabiting ecosystems characteristic of the region.
