A ninfa-de-cauda-bifurcada (Thalurania furcata) é um beija-flor sul-americano de cores brilhantes, nomeado pela sua cauda profundamente bifurcada. Os machos exibem uma garganta violeta-azulada reluzente e partes superiores verdes, com penas externas da cauda azul profundo bifurcadas. Está amplamente distribuída em florestas tropicais a leste dos Andes, da Venezuela e Colômbia até a Bolívia e o Brasil. Altamente agressiva na defesa do território, afugenta outros beija-flores das fontes de néctar e é um importante polinizador de plantas amazônicas.
