El colibrí ninfa colitijera (Thalurania furcata) es un colibrí sudamericano brillantemente coloreado, conocido por su cola profundamente bifurcada. Los machos exhiben una gorguera violeta azulada reluciente y partes superiores verdes, con plumas externas de cola azul profundo bifurcadas. Está ampliamente distribuido en bosques tropicales al este de los Andes desde Venezuela y Colombia hasta Bolivia y Brasil. Sumamente agresivo en la defensa del territorio, ahuyenta a otros colibríes de las fuentes de néctar y es un importante polinizador de plantas amazónicas.
