Ensifer shofinae é uma alfaproteobactéria fixadora de nitrogênio da família Rhizobiaceae, capaz de formar nódulos simbióticos nas raízes de plantas leguminosas. Como outras espécies de Ensifer, fixa nitrogênio atmosférico em troca de compostos de carbono da planta hospedeira, tornando-se ecologicamente importante em solos pobres em nitrogênio. Foi isolada de nódulos radiculares e caracterizada com base em traços moleculares e fenotípicos.
