About

Uma cotovia de tamanho médio com uma distintiva cresta longa e pontiaguda, as cotovias-de-crista habitam terrenos abertos e secos, terras agrícolas, margens de estrada e margens desérticas na Europa, norte de África e Ásia até à China. São aves terrestres que raramente pousam em árvores, caminhando com confiança com a cresta erguida. Menos migratórias do que a maioria das cotovias, muitas populações são residentes durante todo o ano. Produzem um canto rico e melodioso a partir do solo e de posadouros baixos. As populações na Europa ocidental estão a diminuir devido a mudanças agrícolas.
