Habitat & Geographic Range
Komodo Dragon
Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Found in Indonesia. Currently classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.

Nitrosopumilus maritimus e um arqueo marinho pertencente ao filo Thaumarchaeota e um dos primeiros archaea mesofilos cuja oxidacao da amonia como fonte de energia foi demonstrada. E extremamente abundante em ambientes marinhos, desempenhando um papel fundamental no ciclo global do nitrogenio. O seu diminuto tamanho celular e a elevada relacao superficie-volume tornam-no altamente eficiente na captacao de nutrientes em aguas oceanicas oligotroficas.
