Habitat & Geographic Range
Komodo Dragon
Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Found in Indonesia. Currently classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.

Nitrosopumilus maritimus es un arqueon marino perteneciente al filo Thaumarchaeota y uno de los primeros archaea mesofilos cuya oxidacion del amoniaco como fuente de energia fue demostrada. Es extremadamente abundante en entornos marinos y desempena un papel clave en el ciclo global del nitrogeno. Su diminuto tamano celular y su elevada relacion superficie-volumen lo hacen muy eficiente en la captura de nutrientes en aguas oceanicas oligotroficas.
