Um pequeno e discreto beija-flor eremita de florestas secas e úmidas dos Andes, da Colômbia à Bolívia, os beija-flores-de-queixo-cinza têm partes superiores pardacentas, queixo cinza e partes inferiores de buff pálido com cauda central com ponta branca — uma paleta sutil em comparação com muitos beija-flores.
