Geopora arenicola é um pequeno fungo em forma de cálice hipogeu a semisoterado com exterior pálido e peludo e interior liso, que cresce em solos arenosos. Habita solos arenosos bem drenados de dunas costeiras, urzenais arenosos e pradarias secas na Europa temperada. Este fungo ectomicorrízico ou saprotrófico decompõe a matéria orgânica em substratos arenosos pobres em nutrientes.
