Geopora arenicola es un pequeño hongo en copa hipogeo a semisoterado con exterior pálido y peludo e interior liso, que crece en suelos arenosos. Habita suelos arenosos bien drenados de dunas costeras, brezales arenosos y praderas secas en Europa templada. Este hongo ectomicorrícico o saprotrófico descompone la materia orgánica en sustratos arenosos pobres en nutrientes.
