세계에서 가장 큰 수상 포유류인 보르네오오랑우탄(Pongo pygmaeus)은 최대 90kg의 무게로 보르네오 우림 캐노피에서 대부분의 삶을 보냅니다. 단독 생활하며 반유목민적으로, 나무에 야간 수면 둥지를 만들고 과일, 잎, 무척추동물을 찾아다닙니다. 팜오일 확장으로 인한 삼림 벌채와 불법 사냥으로 인해 지난 60년 동안 개체수가 50% 이상 감소한 심각한위기(CR) 종입니다.
