Mycenastrum coriumは厚く革質の外被と成熟時に粉末状のオリーブ褐色の胞子塊を持つ陸生の膨大菌である。ヨーロッパ、中央アジア、北アメリカの大陸性および半乾燥地域のステップ草原、砂地、乾燥した開けた生息地に生育する。この腐生菌は乾燥した草原土壌において有機物を分解する。
