インドオオインコ(Psittacula derbiana)は世界最大級のインコの一つで、独特の青緑色の羽毛、赤と黒の縞模様のくちばし、60cmを超える長くとがった尾を持つ。ヒマラヤ東部、中国南西部、ミャンマー北部の標高1,000〜4,000mの山岳林に生息する。森林破壊と捕獲によって危急種に指定されており、観賞用の鳥として珍重される。血縁ペアが優性繁殖ペアを助ける協力繁殖が知られている。

世界で最も広く分布する侵入性インコの一つであるワカケホンセイインコは、サハラ以南のアフリカと南アジアが原産地だが、籠抜け個体からヨーロッパ、北アメリカ、日本、オーストラリアを含む35か国以上に大規模な野生個体群を確立した。雄はピンクと黒の特徴的な首輪を持つ。適応力が高く繁殖力も旺盛で、ロンドン、アムステルダム、ブリュッセルなどの都市では都市個体群が急増し、巨大な群れをなして在来の樹洞営巣鳥と競争している。
