About

El loro orejiamarillo (Ognorhynchus icterotis) es uno de los loros más amenazados del mundo; habita los bosquetes de palma de cera de los Andes de Colombia y Ecuador. Su ecología es altamente especializada: depende de la palma de cera tanto para anidar como para alimentarse, y a finales del siglo XX su población cayó por debajo de unos pocos centenares de individuos. Gracias a intensas acciones de conservación la población se ha recuperado y actualmente la UICN lo clasifica como En Peligro (EN).
