Pycnora sorophora es un liquen crustaceo pequenyo con talo de color gris-verdoso palido a amarillento, que produce soredios granulares como estructura reproductiva principal. Habita en la corteza de coniferas viejas y arboles de hoja caduca de corteza lisa en bosques humedos templados y boreales de Europa.
