La tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas) es una de las tortugas marinas más grandes. Su nombre proviene del color verde de su cartílago y grasa, no del caparazón.

Pycnora sorophora es un liquen crustaceo pequenyo con talo de color gris-verdoso palido a amarillento, que produce soredios granulares como estructura reproductiva principal. Habita en la corteza de coniferas viejas y arboles de hoja caduca de corteza lisa en bosques humedos templados y boreales de Europa. Este liquen esta asociado a microhabitats estables de bosques antiguos.
