Habitat & Geographic Range
Komodo Dragon
Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Found in Indonesia. Currently classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.
Halostella salina es una arquea extremadamente halófila que forma cocos irregulares en ambientes hipersalinos. Habita lagos salinos, manantiales salinos y lagunas de evaporación solar donde las concentraciones de sal se aproximan a la saturación. Esta arquea aeróbica y quimioorganoheterótrofa requiere concentraciones de sal extremadamente altas para crecer y obtiene energía de compuestos orgánicos en su hábitat de salmuera.
