Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 8 distinct biome types. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

La tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas) es una de las tortugas marinas más grandes. Su nombre proviene del color verde de su cartílago y grasa, no del caparazón.
Colibrí oreja violeta
Un colibri de tamano mediano y plumaje predominantemente verde con una distintiva mancha auricular de violeta-azul iridiscente y franja pectoral, el colibri orejiverde mexicano (Colibri thalassinus) habita bosques de montana desde Mexico hacia el sur a traves de Centroamerica a altitudes de 1.000 a 3.000 metros. Los machos son agresivos, muy vocales en defensa del territorio y realizan vistosos despliegues de vuelo. Se reproducen a grandes altitudes pero algunas poblaciones realizan migraciones altitudinales estacionales. Es uno de los colibries mas comunes en los habitats mexicanos de pino-encino y bosque nublado de montana.
