Novosphingobium gossypii is a gram-negative bacterium in the family Sphingomonadaceae, originally isolated from cotton (Gossypium) plant material. Like other members of its genus, it is an aerobic organism with sphingolipid-containing cell membranes and may contribute to aromatic compound degradation in plant-associated soils. Its conservation status is not evaluated.
Novosphingobium rhizosphaerae is a Gram-negative aerobic rod associated with the plant rhizosphere environment, as its species name suggests. It inhabits the root zone of various plants in temperate soils. This chemoheterotroph decomposes root exudates and organic matter in the plant rhizosphere, potentially influencing plant nutrition and health.
