Micromonospora chaiyaphumensis is a filamentous actinobacterium first isolated from soil in Chaiyaphum province, Thailand. It inhabits tropical forest and agricultural soils of Southeast Asia. This aerobic chemoheterotroph produces single pigmented spores on its substrate mycelium and decomposes complex organic polymers in warm soil environments.

Micromonospora chersina is a soil-dwelling actinobacterium that produces the anticancer compound dynemicin A. It inhabits temperate soils and has been studied extensively for its bioactive secondary metabolite production. This aerobic filamentous bacterium decomposes complex organic matter and produces chemotherapeutic compounds of pharmaceutical interest.
