Staphylococcus capitis is a coagulase-negative, Gram-positive coccus commonly found on the human scalp and face, particularly in sebaceous gland-rich areas. This commensal bacterium feeds on skin lipids and occasionally causes opportunistic infections in neonates and immunocompromised patients.
