Kurthia huakuii is a Gram-positive rod-shaped bacterium in the family Planococcaceae, first characterized from Chinese environmental samples. Like other members of the genus, it is aerobic, non-spore-forming, and can be motile by peritrichous flagella at certain stages of growth. Members of the genus Kurthia are saprophytic bacteria found in soil, decaying organic matter, and animal products.
