Eunotia elegans is a pennate diatom in the family Eunotiaceae, distinguished by its arcuate (curved) frustule with a short, marginal raphe at each pole. It inhabits acidic, soft-water lakes, peat bogs, and oligotrophic freshwater environments where it contributes to periphyton communities. The genus Eunotia is considered a useful indicator of water acidity and low ionic conductivity.
