Hapalosiphon luteolus is a filamentous, branching cyanobacterium found in freshwater habitats, damp soil, and moist terrestrial environments including peat bogs and wetland margins. It produces a yellowish pigmentation and forms heterocysts capable of nitrogen fixation.
