The species inhabits virtually all terrestrial and freshwater habitats, reflecting a generalist ecological strategy. Its documented range spans Taiwan in Asia, four European countries, and both Canada and the United States in North America. Common green capsid is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. This small heteropteran is typically bright green in color and is associated with a wide variety of herbaceous and woody host plants, occasionally reaching pest status in agricultural settings where it damages soft plant tissue. Biological traits of this species remain poorly documented in the scientific literature.
