The Chacoan Akodont (Bibimys chacoensis) is a species in the genus Bibimys. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
Pontibacter korlensis is a Gram-negative, orange-pigmented bacterium first isolated from saline soils near Korla, Xinjiang, China. It inhabits arid desert soils and saline terrestrial environments of Central Asia. This aerobic chemoheterotroph produces carotenoid pigments and is adapted to extreme arid and saline conditions.
