Dinobryon suecicum is a colonial, loricate chrysophyte alga forming branching chains of individual cells in vase-shaped loricae. It inhabits oligotrophic to mesotrophic freshwater lakes and ponds across boreal and temperate Europe, as its species name referencing Sweden implies. This mixotrophic organism performs photosynthesis and also ingests bacteria as supplemental nutrition.
