Found in humid lowland and foothill forests from southern Mexico through Central America and across northern and western South America. They inhabit forest, forest edge, and mangroves, traveling in noisy flocks to fruiting trees. Popular aviary birds for their quiet, gentle demeanor relative to many other parrots.
