Black Bent
The Black Bent (Agrostis gigantea) is a species in the genus Agrostis. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. Inhabits tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests within the Neotropic biogeographic realm. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Frustulia rhomboides is a large, elongated freshwater diatom with a rhomboid outline and a distinctive raphe system embedded in siliceous ribs. It inhabits benthic and epiphytic habitats in acidic, humic freshwater environments including peat bogs and forest streams. This photosynthetic diatom is a bioindicator of acidic, dystrophic freshwater conditions.
