A medium-sized saltator of Pacific coastal lowlands in Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama, streaked saltators are named for the heavy brown and white streaking across their breast and flanks. They inhabit forest edges, thickets, and secondary woodland, foraging on seeds and fruit in pairs and small groups. Listed as Least Concern but with a restricted range in Pacific lowland habitats increasingly threatened by agricultural expansion and deforestation.
