Limnothrix vacuolifera is a planktonic filamentous cyanobacterium that possesses gas vacuoles enabling buoyancy regulation in the water column of freshwater lakes. It forms thin, unbranched trichomes and is found in eutrophic standing water bodies. Its conservation status is not evaluated.
