Hapalosiphon luteolus is a filamentous, branching cyanobacterium found in freshwater habitats, damp soil, and moist terrestrial environments including peat bogs and wetland margins. This species contributes to nitrogen cycling in wetland and semi-aquatic ecosystems where it forms part of benthic microbial communities.
