Several cloud podocarp species are classified as Vulnerable or Endangered due to habitat loss from forest clearance, combined with slow growth rates and limited natural regeneration in degraded areas. Reforestation programs in East Africa, the Andes, and Southeast Asia increasingly use cloud podocarp species for ecological restoration of degraded montane forest landscapes.
