Symphytocarpus amaurochaetoides is a myxomycete (slime mould) producing dark, clustered sporangia on decaying wood and plant debris in forest environments. Like other myxomycetes, it contributes to microbial ecology by feeding on bacteria and detritus in woodland habitats.
