A medium-sized, sociable estrildid finch with a distinctive white head and chestnut flanks, white-headed munias inhabit forests, secondary growth, and rice fields across Southeast Asia from Thailand to the Philippines. Popular aviary birds in Asia, they breed readily in captivity.
