Habitat & Geographic Range
American Flamingo
Typically found in various aerial, terrestrial, and aquatic environments.
Found across Europe (10 countries) and South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela).
Moort
Found across multiple habitat types including flooded grasslands and savannas, Mediterranean forests and woodlands, and deserts and xeric shrublands within the Palearctic biogeographic realm. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Found in Libya. Currently classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.
American Flamingo
The most vibrantly colored flamingo species, American flamingos display brilliant scarlet-pink plumage from the carotenoid pigments in their crustacean diet. Found in Caribbean coastal lagoons, salt pans, and mangrove swamps from the Bahamas and Florida through Central America and the Galapagos.
