The Alpine ibex (Capra ibex) is a species in the genus Capra. It is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. Typically found in diverse terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Widely distributed across Europe (8 countries), North America (Mexico), and South America (Argentina).

Sphingobacterium yamdrokense is a yellow-pigmented Gram-negative rod first described from Yamdrok Lake in Tibet, China. It inhabits high-altitude lacustrine sediments and cold, alkaline lake environments of the Tibetan Plateau. This aerobic chemoheterotroph is adapted to the extreme conditions of high-altitude saline lakes.
