Alexandrine Parakeet

Named in honor of Alexander the Great who brought specimens back to Macedonia in 326 BC, Alexandrine parakeets are among the largest and oldest documented pet parrots in history. They inhabit forest, woodland, and mangroves from Afghanistan and Pakistan east to Southeast Asia. Males display a distinctive pink-and-black neck ring.
